about

Liffey Street, Dublin

lyrics

Deliveries of milk and bread while a junkie grinds to sleep
The shutters of k-ot-ik slowly screeching off their feet
Good morning Liffey Street

The seagulls lose their minds on eating endless fastfood shite
Two knackers have their faces covered around a nice new bike
The lock won’t win that fight

Afternoon and the shoppers rush before they swamp their pints
A stag is dressed up like the woman he’s sworn to make his wife
He may not make the flight

Tourists cross from Temple Bar - a toast to the Irish dream
A cheaper part of what this town has really come to be
Just another “failte” scheme

Takeaway fights out of rhythm with relentless nightclub beats
I close my eyes and try to imagine somewhere I’d find some peace
It’s not on Liffey Street
But it’s the home beneath my feet
The place I brush my teeth
The circus while I sleep
Goodnight my Liffey Street
Sweet dreams Liffey Street
